Washers are thin plates (usually disk-shaped) with a hole (typically in the middle) that is normally used to distribute the load of a threaded fastener: hex bolts, studs, cap screws or nuts. They may also be used as spacers, springs, wear pads, locking devices and to reduce vibration.
